Elena Grazia is an Italian Paris based artist researching the notions of beauty, emotions and perception through various media with a focus on painting and photography. 

With 15 years of ongoing practice, she researches how beauty impacts the subconsciousness and seeks through a polyvalent approach to define how it is measured — all the in-between of subjectivity and objectivity.

Working at the intersection of fine arts, the modeling industry and luxury product, she seeks what is the impact of harmony on the human eye and life in general.

She draws inspiration from art theory like Adorno, philosophy and psychoanalysts like Lacan, the cinematography of Pasolini, Bunuel, painting of Helen Frankenthaler, sculpture of Louise Nevelson, the novels of Clarice Lispektor — language and visuals —the bridge between ideals, spirit and commonplace capitalist culture.

 

Process

Through her oil paintings with the help of color and shape she attempts to translate what the eye fails to see, but recognizes once exposed to the image.

She paints on canvas and the process starts with conceptual research and analysis, followed by drawing, color range choice and further gradual building up of layers until they create a coherent whole.
