Artist Statement

My work explores the intersection of imagination, memory, and identity through figurative painting rooted in classical technique. I create symbolic, dreamlike worlds where reality and fantasy merge, using mythology, allegory, and the human figure to examine resilience, transformation, and the search for personal truth.

Drawing inspiration from the Old Masters and the Pre-Raphaelite tradition, I use oil painting to build richly layered compositions that invite contemplation. Rather than offering an escape from reality, these imagined landscapes become spaces where emotional experience can be confronted, reinterpreted, and understood. Each painting seeks to reveal the quiet strength found in vulnerability, reminding us that our inner worlds are often as profound and complex as the visible one.

Artist Biography

Lubov Yegudin is a Russian-born contemporary artist whose work is shaped by migration, resilience, and a lifelong pursuit of creative freedom. Born in St. Petersburg, she later immigrated to the United States, where she developed a distinctive artistic practice that blends classical realism with symbolic fantasy.

Working primarily in oil, Yegudin draws upon the technical traditions of the Old Masters while embracing the poetic sensibilities of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. Influenced by artists such as William-Adolphe Bouguereau, John William Waterhouse, Alphonse Mucha, Viktor Vasnetsov, and Rembrandt, she creates meticulously rendered figures and evocative narratives that transcend time and place.

Her paintings inhabit richly imagined worlds where mythology, memory, and human emotion converge. Through elaborate compositions and symbolic storytelling, Yegudin explores themes of identity, transformation, and inner resilience, using fantasy not as an escape from reality, but as a powerful lens through which to examine the human condition.
